5. Trivialisation of Culture

Whiteness does not shy away from affecting the lives of People of Colour and one way it does this is by minimising and trivialising BIPOC cultures.

The effects of Whiteness can be somewhat hard to place. It can often feel like it just affects us in so many ways that you would not even know where to start. From cultural appropriation of food, hair, fashion, to the larger idea that Whiteness is only ever interested in other cultures when there is something that they can benefit from, the following resources provide insight into the way Whiteness can sometimes play with BIPOC experiences and the harm and frustrations doing so causes.
